Fleet Arts is a locally based and managed arts organisation, with charitable status, which can help local groups and agencies to develop arts and music projects.  It is run by professional, experienced arts workers and focuses some of its work on projects with disadvantaged people.

For over 25 years, Fleet Arts has been developing and managing projects from our base in Belper, Derbyshire, which offers spaces for community use, a music rehearsal room and portable stage lighting.

We have worked extensively with local groups and agencies throughout Derbyshire and Derby City delivering innovative, challenging and exciting projects.  Fleet Arts is committed to increasing access to and participation in, a range of arts, music and other culturally based activities.

A few examples of projects are:

  • Turn it Up music development project which for over 10 years has worked with young people to support them in gaining experience of music including in rock, folk and culturally diverse genres. Focused on gaining skills, creating original music and performance.
  • Derwent Valley World Heritage Site arts projects – linking heritage with arts, including the Threads mill-workers memories project and the Mills and Chimneys folk music project.
  • Workshops in a range of art-forms including crafts and music with self-help and support groups and organisations with children and adults.
  • Community projects involving many ages and individuals such as the Belper Welcome mosaic project and workshops or performances at local festivals including emerge@ Shipley Country Park.
